ADA -- The Heidelberg University women's lacrosse team's bid for their first-ever OAC road win came up a bit short at Ohio Northern University on Wednesday. The Student Princes fell 12-7.
Heidelberg dropped to 5-6 overall, 1-3 in the OAC. ONU improved to 6-5, 3-1.
Early in the first half, Dana Dudley put Heidelberg up 1-0 with an unassisted goal. Later, Lulejian's first gave HU a 2-1 lead. Winnicki's first tied the game at three with 16:23 left inthe first.
With 11:36 remaining before intermission, Lulejian tallied her second.
Down 5-4 at half, Winnicki tied the game with a goal 25 seconds into the final period. Her goal was the first of a seesaw start to the second. Lulejian's third goal, fed by Jenna Carman, followed an ONU goal. Later, Amanda Sugrue cashed in a free position shot to tie the game at 7-7 with 24:28 to play.
The Polar Bears scored the final five goals of the game.
Heidelberg's next game, an OAC match-up with Wilmington, will likely be moved up from Saturday to Friday at 6 p.m. An official decision will be made shortly.
