2019 Women's Lacrosse Preview

OAC Release

AUSTINTOWN -- Coach Ashley Travis returns to the sidelines in 2019 for her second year in charge of the Heidelberg University women's lacrosse program. Travis will look for a balanced effort from all four position groups in 2019 to lead the way for the Student Princes.

A combination of youth and experience will be relied upon offensively, as the Berg welcomes back their top five scorers this year. Sophomore Angela Lulejian had a breakout freshman season with 33 goals and four assists last season and will be called upon once again by Travis to lead the frontline. Junior Anna Winnicki intends to support the attack after contributing 23 goals and nine assists out of the midfield in 2018.

Seniors Dana Dudley and Jen Kovarik will be a force heading forward after combining for 44 goals and 13 assists last year.

Returning to drive the defensive efforts for the Student Princes is 2018 All-OAC Honorable Mention goalie, Jessica Ballow. The sophomore started all 15 games as a freshman, tallying 112 saves in 782 minutes between the pipes. Ballow will hope to improve her 6-8 record this year.

Additionally, seniors Pree Bryant, Alexandra Farmer, Naomi Smith, and Maureen Kelly will look to balance out the defensive efforts.

THE SCHEDULE: Heidelberg will begin their season this Saturday, February 16 at 1 p.m. at Hoernemann Stadium as they welcome Kenyon College for their home opener. Coach Travis will lead the Student Princes into conference play on March 23 away to start-ups, Marietta College. The final game of the regular season will take place on April 27 at home to Muskingum University.

IN THE POLLS: The Student Princes were slated to finish seventh in the OAC preseason Coaches' Poll this year.
