WLAX: 'Berg falls at John Carroll

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio -- The Heidelberg University women's lacrosse team was upended on the road at John Carroll University by a final score of 21-2 on Wednesday night.

With the loss, Heidelberg drops to 7-9 overall and 1-6 in the OAC. John Carroll improves to 9-6 on the season and 4-3 in conference play.

The Student Princes received goals either side of the halftime break by Anna Winnicki and Jen Kovarik. The pair also assisted on each other's strikes.

Alex Heishman found the back of the net six times, while Colleen Grombala scored 5 times.

John Carroll benefited heavily from the free-position attempt as five of their goals came via the open look.

Mandi Phillips stopped 10 John Carroll shots on the night.

Heidelberg will return home for their final game of the season on Saturday as they host Muskingum University for a 1 p.m. start time. The game will also feature the team's senior day recognition. Dana Dudley, Jen Kovarik, Alexandra Farmer, Naomi Smith and Maureen Kelly will be recognized prior to the game.
