Wrestling pummels Mt. St. Joseph, 48-6

CINCINNATI – The Heidelberg University wrestling team improved to 2-0 in dual meets under first-year head coach Tony Patrizi with a rout at Mt. St. Joseph University on Tuesday. The Student Princes tallied four pins en route to a 48-6 victory on the road.

At 125, Heidelberg's Tyler Price won the evening's closest match, a 6-4 triumph over Donny Herrington.

Next, Joe Brodman started an eight-bout string of bonus points for Heidelberg. Brodman defeated Charlie Heyob with a tech fall, 16-0.

With the Student Princes up 12-0, 141-pounder Justin Kihn continued the HU hot streak with a 14-0 major decision over Luis Godines.

Following MSJ forfeits at 149 and 157, Heidelberg's Aaron Banko pinned Joseph Kammerer in 50 seconds at 165

At 174, Brennan Kelly followed with a pin of Anthony Palacio in 4:20. In 6:44, Richard Dowdley pinned MSJ's Tyler Ray at 184.

Not to be outdone, 197-pounder Matt Shurina pinned Gabe Stiver in 3:55.

The lone win for the Lions came at 285. Josh Batchelor pinned Conner Davis in 1:39.

On Saturday, Heidelberg will compete in the Olivet College Comet Duals. The Student Princes will face Alma, Wisconsin-Whitewater, Olivet and Trine.
