Wrestling finishes 4th at Spartan Mat Classic

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Heidelberg Wrestling team was in Indiana again on Saturday, this time competing at the Spartan Mat Classic at Manchester University. As a team, the Student Princes finished fourth on the day.

Freshman Myles Wright headlined the day for the Berg, taking home 1st place at 165, winning a pair of matches to claim the title.

At 133, Brandon Conrad finished in 3rd place, winning one bout my major decision while the other by a tech fall. His other match of the day saw him fall to Chase Wilson of Manchetser in 4:52.

Wright had a bye for the first round at 165 and earned a 13-2 major decision over Seth Meyer of rival ONU in his first bout. In the title match, he made quick work of Matthew Ruddick of Manchester, pinning him in just 43 seconds.

Patrick Brown competed at 174 and finished in 2nd place. He won two matches by decision before falling in the championship match by a 10-4 decision to Dylan Lauffer of Manchester.

At 197, Brandon Foughty also finished in 2nd place, winning a pair of decisions to open things up. In the final, he fell to Kody Bellamy of ONU by an 11-2 major decision.

The Heidelberg wrestling team will be in competition again next Saturday, January 17th, when they travel to Messiah College in Pennsylvania for the East/West Duals.
