I chose to attend Heidelberg because: In the beginning I chose Heidelberg for a couple of reasons. Being able to compete in wrestling and being given the opportunity to earn a degree in education were the two main reasons. After my freshman year though, I decided that I wanted to continue attending for so many more reasons. Heidelberg offers an atmosphere that I have come to love. Everyone on campus is always friendly and it has been easy to develop a social life here. The academic staff is great and has always been extremely supportive. I do not ever have any professors that I can not get ahold of or get one on one help from. Tutors are available and the Owens center is also something that has huge benefits to it when utilized.
The best part about playing a sport at Heidelberg is: the support from other student athletes, other students in general and faculty. During my time as a varsity wrestler at Heidelberg, I have not competed in a dual where the stands were not absolutely packed full of fans. The support athletes receive at Heidelberg is insane and its unlike any other college that I have been too. When competing at other schools, the atmosphere is dead, there is no support. That is why I love our community at Heidelberg so much.
Heidelberg is unique because: of the HYPE program. I do not think you could go to any other school and say that all in one year you got to meet Shawn Johnson East, Bill Nye, Daymond John, Michael Sam and many others. It is an awesome experience and it is something that I will never forget once my time at Heidelberg is over.
My career goal is: become a science teacher at the middle or high school level.
While at Heidelberg: I have been able to travel a lot with the wrestling team. This year we travelled to Nashville, Tennessee. We also went to Iowa for the National Dual tournament which was a blast. During my Freshman year I got to travel to La Crosse, Wisconsin and be a camera man for my roommate when he made the national tournament. It is not very often that you get to be on the floor as a media person for the biggest DIII wrestling tournament in the country. None of this would have been possible without attending Heidelberg.
