ADRIAN, Michigan -- The Heidelberg University wrestling team began the 2018-19 season with a strong showing at the Adrian College Open on Saturday. Six Student Princes placed, highlighted by championships by Dylan Roth and Tyler Hammack. Chase Morrison was second (losing to Hammack in the finals), while Pacer Quire was third, Slade Todd was fifth and Christian Climer was seventh.
As a team, the Student Princes were fourth.
The Berg returns to action at next weekend's Washington & Jefferson Invitational.
125: Pacer Quire was 4-1 in his first collegiate competition. During the course of his day, he tallied two pins en route to his third-place finish.
133: No competitors.
141: Luis Ibarra was 0-2 in his collegiate debut.
149: Heidelberg entered six wrestlers at 149. Slade Todd went 4-1, with two pins in his first two matches. He wound up finishing fifth.
Tre Bogetich was 2-1 before medically forfeiting in the consolation bracket. Both of his wins came via pin.
157: Devin Miller followed up a loss in the opener with two straight pins. He finished 2-2.
165 & 174: No competitors.
184: After missing the 2017-18 season with an injury, Dylan Roth returned to the mats in style. He was 4-0 with a pin and a major decision, claiming the title at 184. He majored Mount Union's George Lassnick in the finals, 14-4.
285: After losing his opener, Christian Climer came back with a vengeance. He won his next four matches, including a run of three straight pins to take seventh.
Blake Jerome was 0-2.
