AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- Junior Dylan Roth was selected as the Ohio Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week after compiling a 5-0 (1-0) record in his five bouts at the 184 weight class this week.
Roth, now 17-0 overall on the season, matched up with Cash Thompson in his first OAC match of the season vs. Ohio Northern. Roth pinned Thompson in just 52 seconds to provide the momentum swing the Berg needed to defeat the Polar Bears in team scoring.
At the Ohio Northern Invitational on Saturday, Roth made quick work of his four bouts en route to his third individual championship of the season. He pinned Damani Wallace of Adrian in 34 seconds, recorded a major decision over Donny Didion of Otterbein, and defeated Avery Jones of Thomas More to cruise to the finals.
In the Championship bout, Roth impressively knocked off Luke Carver out of Trine, via a tech fall victory by a score of 19-2. For his efforts at the Ohio Northern Invitational, Roth was tabbed the Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament.
This marks Roth's first career OAC Wrestler of the Week honor. Roth and the rest of the Heidelberg wrestling team will be back in action at the Kalahari Duals on December 15.
