WRS: Climer places at Spartan Mat Classic

NORTH MANCHESTER, Indiana -- While resting many starters, the Heidelberg University wrestling team competed at the Spartan Mat Classic, hosted by Manchester University. Finishing fifth, Christian Climer was the lone placer for the Student Princes on a snowy Saturday.

125, 133, 141, 165, 174, and 184: No competitors

149: Dwight Parker was 1-2 and Joe Damm was 0-2 on the afternoon.

157: Micah Mydloski picked up pins in his first two matches before falling in the quarterfinals. He dropped his first consolation bracket match and did not place. Jacob Horsch won his opener, but dropped his next two bouts.

197: A pin and a win pushed Austin Smith into the quarterfinals, but he lost his next two matches and did not place.

285: Christian Climer had a pin in his opener and won his second match. After a loss sent him to the wrestlebacks, Climer responded with a pair of quick pins to finish fifth. Blake Jerome lost his first match, but advanced in the consolations with a pin, a tech and a decision, before dropping his final bout of the day via a 6-3 decision.

The Student Princes return to OAC action on Tuesday as the Student Princes visit No. 7 Mount Union. The match is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
