MANHEIM, Pa. -- As the 2018-19 wrestling season comes to a close, four Heidelberg University wrestlers have earned recognition from the National Wrestling Coaches Association for their work in the classroom and on the mats.
In order to be selected for the recognition, athletes must maintain a 3.2 or higher GPA and wrestle 50% or more of the team's matches throughout the season.
Both Hammack and Brainard are repeat selections for this award as Hammack earned the recognition in 2017 and 2018 as well, while Brainard is repeating for the first time after taking home the award a season ago.
Morrison and Roth are both first time selections for the national academic award. They are the 38th and 39th separate individuals in program history to be tabbed as a Scholar All-American.
Additionally, as a team, the Heidelberg wrestling program was ranked 26th in the country with a 3.399 GPA. With this ranking, this is the eighth time in school history the team has fallen on the top-30 ranking scale.
