‘Berg Women’s Soccer Preyed Upon by Cardinals, Lose 3-1

TIFFIN, Ohio - The Heidelberg women's soccer team entered their matchup with the Otterbein University Cardinals, much in need of another Ohio Athletic Conference victory, but would not find one. The Cardinals struck early before the Berg found an equalizer, but two second half goals from the Cards would spell too much for the Berg as they lose, 3-1.

The lone Berg goal of the contest came from freshman Anna DeAngelis in the 53rd minute to bring the game to a tie. The goal marks DeAngelis's first in the tricolor.

As a unit, the Berg offense finished with three shots, two of which were on target, including DeAngelis's goal.

The Student Princes fell behind early as the Cardinals drew first blood in the 34th minute of the match with a goal from Lindy Stemen which was assisted by Polly Sellers.

Sellers picked up a second assist on the third Otterbein goal of the game which came from Jillian Strimbu in the 77th minute. Strimbu also tallied the Cardinals second goal of the afternoon in the 65th minute when she connected on a corner kick from Alex Ancona.

With the loss, the Heidelberg ladies move to 1-4 in OAC competition with Ohio Northern up due up next.

The Heidelberg women will travel to Ada, Ohio to battle the defending conference champion Polar Bears on Wedensday, October 23. Kickoff from Ohio Northern is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
