TIFFIN -- The 2015 season might be the year that 11th-year head coach Nick Spell looks at as the season that the Heidelberg University women's soccer team turned the corner. An influx of talent, fused with stability within the upperclassmen led to an 8-11 record – the most wins for the program in five seasons. A vast majority of the group from 2015 returns, gritty as ever, ready to return to the OAC Tournament.
Up top, sophomore speedsters Danielle Rathfon and Amanda Kilway return after leading the offense in 2015. They are accompanied by Denise Bowes -- whose rocket leg led to three goals a year ago -- along with Marisa Mowery and Christy Anzur.
In the back third, seniors Lindsey Marcum and Alex Sivec return for their final season. The Student Princes hope to have Madelaine Kuhn back from an injury that halted an impressive sophomore season a year ago. Anna DeAngelis, Regan Turner and Julia Miller all provide experienced depth.
The 2016 season begins with a pair of games at Defiance, Sept. 2-3. The home opener is Sept. 7 vs. Manchester, with a 4 p.m. kick. OAC action starts in October with a match at Muskingum on Oct. 1 at 2 p.m.
