Mount Union blanks women's soccer

ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The Heidelberg University women's soccer team fell 2-0 at Mount Union on Saturday afternoon. Being outshot 17-5, the Student Princes mustered just one shot on goal in the match.

Brooke Schmidt capitalized on a penalty kick in the 65th minute. Schmidt rifled a shot into the back of the net, giving the home team the 1-0 lead.

Mount Union struck again for an insurance goal with under a minute remaining. Nicole Lanese scored her OAC leading 13th goal of the season off a pass from Katie Goedecke.

Goalkeeper Alexandra Farmer made four saves in the match.

Heidelberg slips to 7-5-1, 1-2-0 OAC. The Purple Raiders improve to 7-3-1, 1-1-1 in conference play.

The Berg will play host to Ohio Northern on Tuesday afternoon. Game time at Hidden Valley is slated for 4 p.m.
