Women's soccer wins at Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Ohio -- The Heidelberg University women's soccer team wrapped up its 2017 season with a 1-0 win at Wilmington College. Alexandra Farmer's brilliant day in goal helped the Berg pick up the clean sheet and conclude the year with a victory.

The Student Princes end their season with a 10-8-1, 4-5, record. It is the most wins since 2000 and the most in a season during the Nick Spell era.

Amanda Kilway provided the lone score in the 20th minute. The junior scored her first goal of the season, an unassisted strike, to give the visiting Student Princes the lead.

Farmer kept the Berg ahead, making 12 saves in the match. It was Farmer's fifth shutout of the season and 15th of her career.

Head coach Spell on the season: "After winning your last game you look back and reflect on how the seniors fought to take a program that won three games their freshman season and change it .... They finished with a winning season, a 3.0+ GPA, and turned the program around."

Spell on the impact of the senior class: "Their legacy will live on and the future is bright for Heidelberg."

The win marks the end seven HU seniors' careers.
