Alma squeaks past women's tennis

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Heidelberg University women's tennis team lost a tight non-conference match to Alma College. The battle, a 5-4 win for the Scots, was played at Defiance College.

Heidelberg (1-2) started with two wins in doubles play. Nicole Millar and Markilynn Hogle defeated their counterparts at seconds 8-4. Sara Potts and Siara Patrick won at thirds, defeating Matilda Ennis and Amy Wood, 8-1.

Katie Strahan and Sofey Fugate lost a tight match at first doubles, 8-6.

In singles, Millar (third singles) and Patrick (sixth singles) picked up the only wins for Heidelberg. Millar beat Nicki Malekadeli 10-3 and Patrick took down Ennis 10-5.

Alma improved to 3-1.

The women's tennis team will not compete until annual spring break trip to Hilton Head Island.  Heidelberg opens with East Stroudburg on March 8.
