WTEN: Saba wins as Berg concludes spring trip

HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- The Heidelberg University women's tennis team closed out its 2018 spring trip falling 7-2 to Wartburg College.

In second doubles, freshman pair Esme Salazar and Aline Rojas took the match by a dominant 8-2 score.

Rojas was slightly edged out in her singles match, falling in a tiebreaker, 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-2).

Heidi Saba provided the Berg with its lone singles win in an intense tiebreaker. The sophomore closed out the HU spring trip with a 1-6, 6-2, 1-0 (13-11) victory.

The team will be idle until its Mar. 18 match at Wittenberg University. Match time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.


The Berg fell 8-1 to Drew University on Saturday morning. In third doubles, Gabi Osterman and Bianca Torres won their match by a score of 8-6. Jillian Goulet and Mallory Paul nearly pulled away with the win, as the duo fell in their match, 9-7.

Despite Drew sweeping the singles matches, sophomore Heidi Saba narrowly fell to Xylia Bruff, 6-4, 6-3. Five of the six Student Princes competing in doubles scored points.
