Goobic, Lynch lead track & field

ADA, Ohio – The Heidelberg University men's and women's track and field teams each finished fifth at the OAC North Split Meet hosted by Ohio Northern at the King Horn Sports Center on Saturday.

Sophie Goobic won the 1000m run and finished third in the 1 mile run to lead the women's team.

Freshman Bethany Beaver finished second in the 200m dash and third in the 60m dash.

In the 60m dash, Bobbi Custer finished a spot behind Beaver. Custer was a part of a pair of point-scoring relays for the Student Princes. Custer, Taylor Dillon, Caty Orr and Hayley Cochran finished third in the 4x400m relay. Custer, Cochran, Dani Blum and Allie Dresser placed third in the distance medley.

Dillon ran to a second place finish in the 400m dash.

Madison Haasz's shotput throw of 12.73m was just shy of first place.

For the men, Josh Lynch continued his success in the long jump and high jump. Lynch finished second in both events and was less than two inches shy of first place in the long jump.

Gage Falcone finished fourth in the weight throw.

Also finishing fourth was the 4x400m relay team of Devaun Churchya, Tyler Eoff, Avery Gatchell and Michael Yoder.

The Student Princes will return to action next weekend at Ohio Northern and Defiance.
