BEREA, Ohio – At the OAC Split Meet North, hosted by Baldwin Wallace University, the Heidelberg indoor track & field teams had a few individual event champions as the Student Princes placed 4th for the women and 5th for the men. Bethany Beaver (200m), Baylee Garrett (800m), Cameron Weaks (1000m), Dylan Dombi (5000m), and Jerrod Lyon (long jump) each won their event to lead the way for the Berg.
WOMEN 200m DASH
Sophomore Bethany Beaver had a strong showing, winning the race in a time of 27.28 seconds. Her teammate, Taylor Dillon, finished right behind her in second place in a time of 27.61 seconds.
WOMEN 400m DASH
Dillon earned points for the Student Princes again in the 400 meter dash, coming in second place again, earning that spot with a time of 1:01.64.
WOMEN 800m RUN
Baylee Garrett won her first event of the indoor season, winning the race in a time of 2:28.81.
WOMEN 1 MILE RUN
Dani Blum, going up against a tough field in the 1 mile run, finished in third place in a time of 5:34.15.
WOMEN 55m HURDLES
Senior Catarina Orr, who has been strong in this event so far on the season, turned in a time of 8.82 seconds, which earner her third place.
WOMEN SHOT PUT
On her final throw, Madison Haasz came up just short of winning the event, throwing a distance of 12.91 meters, which was just shy of the winning throw of 12.92 meters by Kim Gallavan of host Baldwin Wallace.
WOMEN WEIGHT THROW
Haasz turned in another second-place performance in the weight throw with a distance of 16.19 meters. That distance extended her own school record.
MEN 400m DASH
Lyon was the top finisher for the Berg in this event, coming in second place with a time of 52.31 seconds. Heidelberg also earner points from this event with Michael Yoder finishing in 5th, while Tim Faiken was right behind him in 6th place.
MEN 1000m RUN
Freshman Cameron Weaks won his first event of the indoor season, holding on at the end with a time of 2:37.01 to win the event.
MEN 5000m RUN
Dylan Dombi had another dominating performance in the 5000 meter run, winning the event by over six seconds, coming across the finish line in a time of 15:09.15.
MEN LONG JUMP
Lyon won the long jump to earn the maximum 10 points for the Berg, clearing a distance of 6.53 meters on his sixth attempt to edge out Brandon Eddy of Baldwin Wallace.
MEN SHOT PUT
MEN WEIGHT THROW
Falcone earned another runner-up finish in the weight throw, hurling 16.93 meters on his third attempt, which was his only non-foul in the eevent,
The Student Princes will be back in action next Saturday, February 7th, when they travel to Ada for the Joe Banks Invitational, hosted by Ohio Northern University.
