2016 Indoor Track & Field Preview

TIFFIN - With their first meet of the indoor season already in the books, the Heidelberg University track and field teams are prepared for a solid run in 2016. Under the direction of second-year head coach Joe Yoder, the Student Princes are poised to compete with the top of the Ohio Athletic Conference once again.

Leading the way for the returning student-athletes is senior Madison Haasz. The current school record-holder in both the shot put and the weight throw, Haasz was a national qualifier in the weight throw a year ago where she placed 15th.

Dani Blum also figures to be a big piece for the Berg as a distance runner. She won an OAC title in the 5000 meter run last year while earning a runner-up finish in the 3000 meter run.

Taylor Dillon will look to lead the sprinters on the women's side yet again after a good showing at last year's OAC Championships. Dillon brought home a third-place finish in the 400 meter dash while also being a part of the runner-up 4x400 meter relay squad. Baylee Garrett will also look to improve on her runner-up finish in the 500 meter run last season at the OAC Championships.

On the men's side, Dylan Dombi returns for his sophomore season after earning male distance runner of the year honors last year at the OAC Indoor Championships. Dombi won a pair of OAC Titles (3000 meter run, 1-mile run) while also finishing seventh in the 800 meter run.

In the mid-distance events, Cameron Weaks returns after finishing in 3rd place in the 1000 meter run while the entire 4x400 meter relay team of Devaun Churchya, Avery Gatchell, Tim Faiken, and Jacob Berryman will look to build off of their 3rd place finish last season.

The Student Princes will be back in action on Saturday, January 15th, when they travel to the University of Findlay for the Northwest Ohio Invitational.
