NEW ORLEANS -- The Heidelberg University track & field teams were well represented on the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Teams. Each program earned the team distinction and seven individuals received recognition.
On the women's side, four individuals were honored. Senior Bethany Beaver capped her stellar career by receiving the honor. She was joined by juniors Sarah Hunter and Olivia Hipp, along with freshman Kelsey Grove. Overall, the women's team compiled a GPA of 3.38.
Three men garnered recognition from the USTFCCCA. Junior Jerrod Lyon and sophomores Wes Fritz and Keny Beucler received the honor. Collectively, the men's team earned a 3.18 GPA.
"Our student-athletes continue to pursue excellence both on and off the track," said head coach Joe Yoder. "As a team, we stress the importance of academics -- first and foremost."
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and must have competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship or finished the regular season ranked in the national top-50 in an individual event or ranked in the national top-35 in a relay event. Teams qualify by earning a collective team GPA greater than 3.0.
