WESTERVILLE, Ohio - The Heidelberg volleyball team traveled to Otterbein University to take on the Cardinals in Ohio Athletic Conference action. The Heidelberg ladies found their fifth conference victory and a side of redemption in Westerville as they drop the Cardinals in five games, 3-2.

The Student Princes fell behind early two games to none before rallying back to take the final three games from the Cardinals. The Cardinals took a close first game, 20-25 followed by a decisive second game, 15-25. The Student Princes narrowly escaped the third and fourth games, 25-23 and 25-22 before closing the match with a 15-13 victory in the fifth and final game.

"I'm very proud of the fight they showed. Coming back down two games at a ranked opponent is a pretty tough situation," said head coach Jason Miller.

Coincidentally, the Cardinals defeated the Berg in the same fashion a year ago, with a stunning 3-2 come from behind win in Tiffin.

"They showed a lot of heart tonight," Miller concluded.

Senior Amber Welfle led the Berg offensively against the Cards with 17 kills followed by sophomore Jamie Kluding's 12. The pair finished with a kill percentage of .500 and .400 respectively.

The hard hitting senior has collected a team-high 356 kills in her final season, while Kluding's season total sits at 196.

Senior Alexa Frank continues to play a major role in the Berg's offense as she served up a team-high 26 assists in Westerville. Junior Stephanie Romie also played a key roll in the comeback victory, finishing with 16 assists. Frank's season total now sits at a team-best 480, while Romie follows close behind with 419.

Junior Grace Samenuk finished the contest with a team-high 15 digs followed by junior Jubilee Hasse and Frank, who finished with seven each.

As a unit, the Berg combined for eight team blocks.

With the victory the Berg women remain unbeaten in conference play and move back to .500 at 13-13 overall.

The Student Princes will host the Polar Bears of Ohio Northern to continue OAC regular season competition. The hot Polar Bears, who are riding a four game winning streak, will battle the Berg in Seiberling Gymnasium on Tuesday, October 22 at 7:00 p.m.
