Volleyball remains unbeaten in OAC action

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Heidelberg University volleyball team remained unbeaten in Ohio Athletic Conference competition with a 3-1 victory over John Carroll University at the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center on Tuesday. A quartet of Student Princes reached double digits in kills in the 17-25, 25-16, 25-16, 25-17 victory.

The win pushed Heidelberg's record to 17-6, 4-0 in the OAC. The host Blue Streaks fell to 10-11, 2-2 OAC.

Heidelberg allowed JCU to attack at a .316 percentage in the opening set. In the second, the Blue Streaks mustered up a -.028 attack percentage. For the match, Heidelberg outhit JCU .321 to .174.

All-American Sarah Parker led the way for Heidelberg with 13 kills, with Morgan Strenk close behind with 12 kills. Jamie Kluding and Janessa Scott each had 10 kills, with Kluding attacking at a team-high .529 clip.

Karlie DiRuzza tallied 39 assists in the victory.

Defensively, Rachel Raimondo notched 18 digs and Megan Mills had 15. Parker had a team-high four blocks.

Over the next week, Heidelberg volleyball faces its toughest in-conference stretch of the season. On Saturday, Heidelberg visits Mount Union (14-7, 3-1 OAC) for a 1 p.m. match. On Tuesday, Heidelberg hosts No. 22 Ohio Northern (18-4, 4-0 OAC)
