Volleyball sweeps on final day in Bluffton

BLUFFTON -- After dropping two matches yesterday, the Heidelberg University women's volleyball team found their groove and picked up two wins at the Sommer Center Spiketacular. The Tricolor now improves to 6-3 on the year.


The Berg struck first winning set one 25-17. Geneva came back to win the second set 25-18 which evened the match score. HU took home the victory by winning the last two sets 25-16 and 25-22.

Senior Janessa Scott had a team-high 13 kills in the win. Sarah Parker added 12 kills of her own. Setter Karlie DiRuzza tallied 50 assists while Megan Mills finished with 20 digs.


Led by Parker's 12 kills, the Berg swept Thomas More College in three sets. HU took the first set 25-19 before taking the next two by a score of 26-24.

Mills tallied a game-high 21 digs in the match.

The Berg left with a win, despite attacking at a lower percentage than Thomas More. HU attacked at a .223 clip compared to Thomas More's .280.

Following the matches, Sullivan was named to the all-tournament team. She finished the weekend with 36 kills.


The Berg will be back in action September 13th when they travel to Defiance College to take on the Yellow Jackets. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
