Volleyball responds with resounding win

CLEVELAND -- Following a disastrous home loss on Tuesday, the Heidelberg University volleyball team went on the road and picked up a 3-1 win at Case Western Reserve University on Saturday. The Student Princes dropped the first set before winning the final three for the victory -- 18-25, 25-21, 25-16, 25-17.

The win pushed the HU record to 9-6 while the Spartans slipped to 12-3.

Seniors middle hitters Mariah Sullivan (14 kills) and Sarah Parker (21 kills) carried the Tricolor attack. Sullivan swung at a .545 clip and Parker was at .439.

Karlie DiRuzza and Anna McNabb shared the setting duties, with 32 and 21 assists, respectively.

Defensively, libero Rachel Raimondo had 24 digs, Morgan Strenk had 15 digs and Megan Mills had 10.

Parker had a total of 10 blocks -- one solo, nine assisted. It was one shy of her career high 11, set as a freshman.

The Student Princes attacked .266 as a team and held the Spartans to .146.

Heidelberg opens OAC action at home against Otterbein on Wednesday. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
