Volleyball sweeps Muskingum

NEW CONCORD, Ohio -- The Heidelberg University volleyball team found their groove and swept Muskingum University 3-0 on Saturday afternoon. HU moves to 11-6, 2-0 OAC. The Muskies slip to 12-6, 0-1 OAC.

Sarah Parker led the HU offense with 12 kills and attacking at a .435 clip. Classmate Mariah Sullivan chipped in with ten.

The Berg took the first set 25-18. A Sullivan kill brought the score to 24-16. Following two Muskingum points, a block from Morgan Strenk and Laura Schrag gave HU the opening set victory.

Leading 19-18 in set two, the Tricolor used a four-point swing to distance themselves from Muskingum. A kill and a block from Parker gave the Berg a 25-19 win.

In the final set, Heidelberg trailed 15-11. The Student Princes gained momentum, taking a 19-15 lead -- aided by three straight kills from Schrag. The Berg took the third set 25-19, which ended on a Musky attack error.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

Heidelberg finished the match with 18 total blocks, five of them from Schrag. Parker and Strenk each had four blocks. Muskingum had four blocks the entire match.

The Student Princes ended with a .278 attacking percentage. MU swung at a .110 clip.

HU returns to their home court on Tuesday October 4th when they host John Carroll. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
