AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- Following a stunning week on the court, Heidelberg University volleyball player Sarah Parker (McCutchenville/Mohawk) has been named Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Week. Parker, a senior, helped the Student Princes to a perfect 2-0 record with sweeps of John Carroll University and the University of Mount Union.
Parker, a two-time AVCA All-American, finished the week with 31 kills in six sets of action, attacking at a .439 clip. She tallied 12 kills in the win over John Carroll and 19 in the victory over Mount Union. The 19 kills ties her personal record for kills in a three-set match. She set the record a year ago, also against the Purple Raiders.
In her career, Parker -- the reigning OAC Player of the Year -- has 1,527 kills, second-most in Heidelberg history. Defensively, she has a total of 333 blocks, seventh in the record book.
This is the fourth time that has earned the league's weekly honor.
Heidelberg (13-6, 4-0 OAC) faces a tough test over the next week. After traveling to Ohio Northern (18-3, 3-0 OAC) on Tuesday, the Student Princes face two nationally ranked teams this coming weekend, No. 5 Hope and No. 15 Elmhurst.
