Volleyball falls to No. 21 Ohio Northern

TIFFIN -- The Heidelberg University volleyball team fell in four sets to No. 21 Ohio Northern University on Tuesday evening. The Berg has dropped three of its last four matches.

Ohio Northern controlled the tempo for the first set, taking it by a score of 25-19. The Berg did not have the lead once in the set.

HU broke out to a 16-11 lead in set two, but Ohio Northern came storming right back. The Polar Bears rallied back to cut the deficit to 18-16. After the teams went back and forth, ONU eventually tied the set at 20. The visitors would go on to score five straight and take the set, 25-20.

Heidelberg forced a fourth set by building a commanding lead over Ohio Northern in the third set. Sophomore Taylor Valentine had an explosive set -- recording nine kills in the set alone. She finished with 21 total kills on the evening, a new career high.

In a tight-knight fourth set, ONU pulled away late to clinch the match by a score of 25-21.

Taylor Arbogast contributed with 14 kills, 18 digs, and three blocks. In addition to Valentine's 21 kills, Morgan Strenk added 19 kills and 12 digs. Laura Schrag had a career high eight total blocks.

Anna McNabb dished up 60 assists and had 14 digs in the match. Senior libero Rachel Raimondo racked up 32 digs while Sydney Moore tallied 10.

Ohio Northern improves to 18-4, 3-1 in conference play. Heidelberg slips to 10-11, 1-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference.

The Student Princes will travel to Otterbein University (21-2, 4-0 OAC) on Saturday for a 3 p.m. match.
