TIFFIN -- The Heidelberg University volleyball team continued their winning ways Tuesday evening inside of a groutfitted Seiberling Gymnasium, brushing aside Capital University in straight sets. The win marks their eighth straight victory and their tenth three set sweep of the season.
Heidelberg improves to 15-5 overall and 2-0 in the OAC, while Capital drops to 0-17 and 0-2 in conference play.
An extremely balanced attack by the Student Princes led them to victory. Three Berg hitters amassed six or more kills to pace the team. Morgan Strenk chipped in nine on a .583 hitting percentage, Mya Morris hit seven (.500) and Laura Schrag nailed six (.455).
Setter Anna McNabb had a well-rounded stat line contributing 33 assists, seven digs, two kills, and two service aces.
Defensively, Taylor Arbogast scooped up 16 digs. Midway through the third set, Arbogast - who was serving at the time - made a diving play to her right, pancaking a dig up and over the net to an empty corner for the point to give the Student Princes the momentum they needed to pull away.
Also on the defensive end, Sydney Moore added six more in the back row. Morris complimented her solid offensive night with two blocks.
Capital committed 32 total errors on the evening and only mustered a .100 hitting percentage, good for 25 kills over the three sets.
Heidelberg's next match is on Saturday away to Marietta College. First serve is slated for 1:00 p.m. The Student Princes return to Seiberling Gymnasium on October 13, for a doubleheader vs. Otterbein University and Albion College.
