WESTERVILLE, Ohio - Senior Sophie Goobic has had a stellar fall placing in the top their in every event she has competed in. Her OAC career will end with an OAC individual title as the men's and women's cross country teams participated at the OAC Championships.
Goobic become the second women in program history to claim a women's cross country individual championship. Goobic finished the women's 6k course in a time of 22:42.4 to claim top honors, which was 16 seconds faster than the second place competitor.
Freshman Dani Blum, Shawnda Henault and Allie Dresser finished behind Goobic at the OAC Championship in 16th, 22nd and 27th place respectively. The freshman trio finished the women's 6k course in a time of 24:03.9, 24:31.2 and 24:40.6 respectively.
With Goobic's first place finish, she is named first team all-OAC in her senior campaign. Blum receives a second team all-OAC selection with her 16th place finish.
Freshman Hayley Cochran and sophomore Lorin Conti round out the Berg's top six women with their 47th and 59th place finishes. Cochran clocked a time of 25:12.3 in Westerville while Conti finished with a time of 25:45.5.
The Heidelberg women will travel to Grand Rapids, Mich. in two weeks to compete in the NCAA Regionals on Saturday, November 16.
