CEDARVILLE – The Heidelberg University cross country teams took on competition from all over Ohio on Friday, October 03 at the All-Ohio Championships hosted by Cedarville University. Competing teams included NCAA Division 1, 2, and 3, as well as a few NAIA, NCCAA, and junior colleges.
The women's race saw Dani Blum finish in 13th place for Division III, running the 6k course in 23:13.45 to lead the Student Princes. Rachel House (23:38.58) and Hayley Cochran (23:41.68) were a close second and third for Heidelberg, finishing in 24th and 26th place in Division III, respectively. Kristen Fett (25:07.13), Shawnda Henault (25:15.32) and Allie Dresser (25:27.57) were the rest of the scoring runners for the 'Berg. The Student Princes finished in 8th place as a team out of 20 competing Division III schools.
For the men, Dylan Dombi led the 'Berg again, finishing the 8k course in 26:34.43, which was good enough for 28th place in Division III. Isaac Kuntz and Nick Jones were a close second and third for the Student Princes, finishing in times of 27:17.88 and 27:23.61, respectively. Cameron Weaks (27:56.19), Jesse Rudolph (28:10.23) and Brandon McNeil (28:17.76) rounded out the top five for the Student Princes, who finished 9th out of 21 Division III teams.
The next race for the men's and women's cross country teams will be on Friday, October 17, when they travel to Wilmington College for the Jenna Strong Fall Classic.
