CEDARVILLE – The Heidelberg University men's and women's cross country teams competed for the third time this season on Friday at the All-Ohio Championships, hosted by Cedarville University. As a team, the men finished in 7th place out of the 19 Division III schools in competition while the women finished 11th out of 18 DIII schools.
Sophomore Dylan Dombi led the men's team, finishing in a time of 25:57.01, which was over 30 seconds faster than his time at this event a year ago (26.34.43). That time put Dombi in 85th place overall out of 647 runners, 14th place in Division III. Isaac Kuntz was the second Student Prince to cross the finish line, doing so in a time of 26:21.96, which was good enough for 28th place out of Division III runners. Matt Tussing (26:50.28), Zach Flint (27:08.73), and Devon Jester (27:25.64) rounded out the top five for the Berg.
Hayley Cochran was the top finisher for the women, crossing the finish line in a time of 23:18.75, which placed her 18th among Division III women. Dani Blum was the second finisher for the Berg with a time of 23:43.52. Jessica Sucheck (24:15.95), Kristen Fett (24:31.55), and Amanda Elkins (24:58.93) were the rest of the top five for the Student Princes.
The Heidelberg cross country teams will next compete at the Jenna Strong Fall Classic, hosted by Wilmington College on Friday, October 16th.
