Dombi, Cochran lead Cross Country at NCAA Regional

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Heidelberg University cross country teams wrapped up their season on Saturday at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional, hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. The men's team ended the afternoon in 16th place out of 36 competing schools while the women finished in 19th place out of 33 teams.

Dylan Dombi had the top performance of the day for the Student Princes, finishing in 30th place in the men's race in a time of 26:06.  That finish earned Dombi All-Region honors for the second consecutive season. Isaac Kuntz was the second runner for the Berg to cross the finish line, finishing in 67th place in 26:48. Matt Tussing (101st place, 27:15), Zach Flint (109th place, 27:24), and Devon Jester (125th place, 27:37) rounded out the top five for HU.

In the women's race, Hayley Cochran led the Berg with a 77th-place finish, crossing the finish line in a time of 23:49 in the 6K race. Dani Blum (99th place, 24:17), Amanda Elkins (105th place, 24:21), and Kristen Fett (114th place, 24:37) were the next three Student Princes to finish the race while Miranda Shaffer (150th place, 25:22) was the fifth HU runner to cross the finish line.

This marked the final race of the season for the Heidelberg cross country teams. They will now set their sights on the indoor track season, which kicks off for the Berg on December 4th at the Oiler Open, hosted by the University of Findlay.
