TIFFIN -- The Heidelberg University cross country teams both finished third at the annual Tiffleberg Open at Clinton Heights Golf Course on Saturday. Freshman Brittney Roth and junior Austin Neura were the top finishers for Heidelberg, which co-hosted the event with Tiffin University.
Roth, the runner-up in the Women's 6K, finished with a time of 24:53.4. Amanda Elkins was next across for The Berg, clocking a 25:32.2 -- good for sixth. Jessica Sucheck was next for Heidelberg with a time of 26.21.1 (16th).
Findlay won the women's race, lead by individual winner, Gabrielle Lawrence.
Neura was third on the men's side, running a 27:03.6 in the 8K. Freshman David Drushal was sixth overall, finishing with a time of 27:43.6.
Eric Peterson (29:17.4), Dakota Freeman (29:20.0), Alec Watterson (29:35.8) and Travis Brandt (29:36.8) were bunched together, finishing 19th, 20th, 22nd and 23rd.
Tiffin's Stephen Korir won with a 26:01.5. Findlay also picked up the team win in the men's race.
After a week off, Heidelberg will travel to Akron for the All-Ohio Championships on Sept. 29.
